tzNIC concludes its second AGM |

tzNIC held its 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 31st August 2010 at Blue Pearl (Ubungo Plaza) Hotel. Among the achievements presented to the Members included: - Smooth take over of .tz domain registration responsibilities from past registrars;
- De-centralization of .tz registry services (currently having 12 accreditted registrars);
The meeting was followed with a brief certificate presentation ceremony to the .tz accredited registrars. |

.tz domain registration promotion ends |

The three (3) months .tz domain registration promotion that commenced on 1st May 2010 was extended by one month and it ended on 31st August 2010. We wish to inform our stakeholders that we will be resuming to the approved fee (price list) from 1st September 2010. |

tzNIC hosts a .bw delegation |

tzNIC was deeply honoured to host a delegation of 3 members from Botswana for a benchmarking exercise on future management of .bw ccTLD. The .bw multi-stakeholder delegation had a representative from the BTA, University of Botswana and one staff from a Telecom operator. |

tzNIC attends a workshop on secure and sustainable communication |

tzNIC attended a 2 days workshop that was organized by TCRA at their new Head Office – Mawasiliano Towers on 19th and 20th July 2010. The workshop attracted 170 delegates from Kenya, South Africa, Mauritius and Tanzania. The resource persons for the workshop were drawn from Netherlands, Malaysia, Hungary and Tanzania. |

tzNIC concludes the 2nd Registrar training |

On 8th and 9th July 2010 tzNIC held its 2nd major registrar training at its offices. The training was attended by 12 participants - 9 from 7 companies and 3 students (currently on PT/internship at tzNIC). The training covered both administrational and technical issues including rules and policies governing .tz domain registration, DNS, BIND and .tz registry system (hands-on session). These kind of trainings are meant to cover some of the registrar accreditation requirements. |

.tz TLD redelegated to tzNIC |

On 22nd April 2010 the ICANN Board approved a request for redelegation of .tz Top Level Domain (a country code domain for the United Republic of Tanzania) to Tanzania Network Information Centre (tzNIC). A final confirmation for the redelegation was made on 30th April 2010. More details on the redelegation process is available here and ICANN's report is available here. |

tzNIC kick-starts the domain renewal campaign |

 On 27th April 2010 tzNIC kick started the .tz domain renewal campaign. The campaign was inaugurated at Habari/Maelezo through a press conference with the media. Campaign details are available in this brochure. Along with the domain renewal campaign, tzNIC informed the local internet community on the 3 months .tz domain registration promotion commencing on 1st May 2010 and expected to end on 31st July 2010. During this period the domain registration fee ranging from TZS 5,000 to TZS 25,000 will be waived and instead new registrants will pay the annual maintanance fee ONLY (viz., TZS 5,000 or TZS 20,000).
