tzNIC to launch a .tz domain renewal campaign Print E-mail
The best way to protect your .tz domain name is to make sure that you own it - "Pay the renewal fee on time to preserve your domain name"
If you are a .tz domain-name holder, you understand the value it brings to your enterprise viz. you recognize what’s in a .tz domain name.

.tz domain names facilitate entities based in Tanzania to do business or provide services through the Internet (using websites or e-mail addresses). These domains have an expiration period of one (1) year. If a .tz domain is not renewed on time it becomes available for anybody else to re-register. In an extreme case, a competitor may register an expired .tz domain that used to promote say campaign against Malaria into a pornographic website.

Below are 4 simple steps that a domain holder should do to protect his .tz domain:

a)  Verify the registration details of your domain name
This is possible through tzNIC’s WHOIS service available at: http://whois.tznic.or.tz/whois.

 b)  Verify and update the .tz administrative contact information regularly
Contact tzNIC or your registrar by e-mail or telephone.

c) Consolidate the .tz domain names
If you have a number of domains registered through different registrars you can simplify their management by consolidating them to one registrar.

d) Register your .tz domain name for maximum period of time
You can pay the renewal fee for your domain for a maximum of five (5) years at the time of registration or any time after registration.
