First Registrars’ training successfully held at Peacock Millennium Hotel PDF Print E-mail

In an effort to share the Registry services provision to the Local internet Community, tzNIC held the first Registrars training at Millennium Peacock Hotel from 24th to 25th September, 2009.

The training attracted 17 participants from 10 out of 13 invited institutions. This training was in line with the shared Registry-Registrar-Registrant model that has been adopted by tzNIC. This model would allow tzNIC and other Registrars to provide domain registration services to the Registrants.  The belief with this model is that tzNIC will have enough time to concentrate on other Registry tasks such as DNSSEC, ENUM, etc.  The training was the first among many more trainings to come in different cities other than Dar es Salaam.

tzNIC calls upon the institutions that participated in the just ended training to apply to be Registrars so that the benefits of de-centralization of Registry services can be enjoyed by the local internet community as soon as possible.

The Guest of honor to the opening session was the Director General of TCRA Prof. John Nkoma. In his opening remarks Prof. Nkoma requested the participating institutions to support tzNIC so that the initiated efforts of establishing tzNIC, TIX and installation of K-root server in the country could give the desired goal - full content localization (both DNS traffic and user data/information).
