The Engineers Registration Board (ERB) organized a 2 days event (Annual Engineers Day - AED 2010) for Tanzanian Engineers at Mlimani City Conference Centre from 2^nd to 3^rd September 2010. The event included the 8^th Engineers Annual Meeting and commercial exhibitions. tzNIC was among the exhibitors who attended the exhibitions under the services category.

The exhibition opportunity was exploited by explaining to more than 800 participating Engineers and exhibitors on the benefits of managing the .tz ccTLD locally and using the .tz domain names. Visitors to tzNIC booth were advised to register .tz domain names as they give unique Tanzanian identity in cyber space; they are more credible than generic domain names (.com, .org, etc) and they play a great role in content/traffic localization and dimunition of Internet connectivity costs.

As for the availability of .tz e-mail accounts to Tanzanians, tzNIC representatives requested for businesses to invest in online advertisements (viz. through websites using .tz domain names) while at the same time providing free .tz e-mail acccounts to Tanzanians.

tzNIC held its 2^nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 31^st August 2010 at Blue Pearl (Ubungo Plaza) Hotel.

Among the achievements presented to the Members included:

• Smooth take over of .tz domain registration responsibilities from past registrars;
• De-centralization of .tz registry services (currently having 12 accreditted registrars);

• Finalization of the non-contested .tz ccTLD redelegation in April 2010.

The three (3) months .tz domain registration promotion that commenced on 1^st May 2010  was extended by one month and it ended on 31^st August 2010.

We wish to inform our stakeholders that we will be resuming to the approved fee (price list) from 1^st September 2010. 

tzNIC attended a 2 days workshop that was organized by TCRA at their new Head Office – Mawasiliano Towers on 19^th and 20^th July 2010. The workshop attracted 170 delegates from Kenya, South Africa, Mauritius and Tanzania. The resource persons for the workshop were drawn from Netherlands, Malaysia, Hungary and Tanzania.

On 8^th and 9^th July 2010 tzNIC held its 2^nd major registrar training at its offices. The training was attended by 12 participants - 9 from 7 companies and 3 students (currently on PT/internship at tzNIC).

The training covered both administrational and technical issues including rules and policies governing .tz domain registration, DNS, BIND and .tz registry system (hands-on session). These kind of trainings are meant to cover some of the registrar accreditation requirements.
